Enderman Farm in Minecraft: Step-by-Step Guide
Step-by-step guide to building an XP-Ender Farm for Endermen in Minecraft Java Edition — safe bridge, spawn platform, and kill chamber…
The Enderman farm (XP-Ender Farm) in the End is the most efficient way to get experience and ender pearls. Endermen spawn only in the End, which makes gathering the mobs easier. The design works on the Endermen's natural aggression toward endermites: they run to the minecart with the bait, fall into a 43-block-deep shaft, and are left with 1 health point (0.5 hearts), letting you kill them with a single unarmed hit.
Materials needed
Gather the following resources before you start building:
Leaves or slabs: 2–4 stacks (block mob spawns on the bridge).
Solid building blocks: 5–6 stacks of cobblestone or stone.
Stone slabs: 1 stack to cover the collection area.
Hoppers: 9 pieces.
Chests: 4–6 pieces.
Carpets: 1 stack (prevent experience from piling up in the hoppers).
Wooden trapdoors: 8 pieces.
Iron rail: 1 piece.
Minecart: 1 piece.
Ender pearls: 1–2 stacks to summon the bait.
Name tag (Name Tag): 1 piece, already named at an anvil beforehand.
Anvil: used to rename the name tag.
Step 1. Build the safe bridge
Find the edge of the main End island.
Build a bridge 128–150 blocks long out into the open void.
Use only leaves or bottom slabs to prevent mobs from spawning along the path.
At the end of the bridge, build a 9x9-block platform out of solid stone.

Step 2. Setting up the kill and collection area
In the center of the 9x9 stone platform, cut a 3x3-block hole.
Below the hole, place 9 hoppers connected to double chests.

Step 3. Building the shaft and spawn platform
From the corners of the 3x3 hole, build a cobblestone shaft exactly 43 blocks deep. Falling from this height deals 39 damage to Endermen, leaving them with 1 health point.
At the top of the shaft, build a 31x31-block spawning platform out of solid blocks (cobblestone, stone).
Leave a 3x3-block hole in the center of the platform.
Around the perimeter of this hole, place open wooden trapdoors. Mobs treat them as solid blocks and will fall through.

Step 4. Summoning and securing the endermite
Above the central 3x3 hole, at a height of 3 blocks, build a temporary frame out of blocks.
Place an iron rail inside the frame.
Throw ender pearls at the floor of the frame until an endermite spawns (5% spawn chance per throw).
Name the endermite with the name tag to prevent it from despawning.
Push the minecart onto the rail so the endermite gets in.
Remove the rail and the extra frame blocks. The minecart should hang on a single central block directly above the shaft.

Technical notes and troubleshooting
Mobs spawning on the bridge: make sure you built the entire bridge out of leaves or slabs. If you use cobblestone, the bridge will become an active spawn zone.
Bait disappearing: always name the endermite with a name tag before putting it in the minecart, otherwise the game will despawn it.
Endermen ignoring the bait: check the distance from the minecart to the spawn platform. If it's more than 3 blocks, Endermen won't see the endermite.
Mobs dying from the fall: if the shaft is deeper than 43 blocks, Endermen will die on impact, making it impossible to collect experience. If it's shallower than 43 blocks, you'll need more hits to kill them.
Alternative XP farms
Gold farm on zombie piglins: uses the piglins' aggression mechanic in the Nether. Provides gold and experience, but requires building on the Nether roof and protecting the snow golems.
Spawner farms: use zombie or skeleton spawners. They're simple to build, but depend on the spawn rate of the spawner itself, which is much slower than an Enderman farm.
