Detailed analysis of three new Minecraft puzzle maps: prison horror Prisoner, CTM survival Realm of the Skies, and winter adventure The Secret of Christmas.
Puzzle maps are one of the most popular genres in the Minecraft community. They offer players not only a test of logical thinking but also a chance to try themselves in scenarios atypical for the standard game. In this review, we will look at three maps of different subgenres: the horror quest Prisoner, the massive CTM adventure Realm of the Skies, and the classic search quest The Secret of Christmas. Each of them has its own mechanics, game version requirements, and gameplay.
Prisoner — escape from a gloomy prison
The Prisoner map combines elements of puzzle, horror, and PVE adventure. Its developer Scramblero created a quest where the main goal is to escape imprisonment in a closed prison block.
Characteristics:
Minecraft version: 1.21.11
Genre: puzzle / horror / adventure / PVE
Number of players: single-player or co-op
Playtime: 1–2 hours
Author: Scramblero

Story and concept
Gameplay starts in a closed maximum-security cell. To break free, you need to collect four special trophies hidden in different parts of the prison. Each zone with a trophy is protected by a separate security system and logical obstacles.

Gameplay features
Map progression is divided into four zones, each offering a distinct type of challenge:
Redstone logic puzzles. You will have to restore power circuits, interact with levers and buttons in the correct sequence.
Navigating mazes. Prison labyrinths are confusing and contain traps requiring quick reactions.
PVE challenges. In some rooms, you will have to fight modified hostile mobs using a limited supply of weapons and potions of healing.
Horror elements. Zones with low lighting levels and sound effects create a tense atmosphere where you must avoid dangers in the dark.
After collecting all four trophies, the central monument opens, through which you will exit to freedom.
Realm of the Skies — survival and a monument in the clouds
Realm of the Skies (ROTS) is a massive open-world CTM (Complete the Monument) map consisting of floating islands. Authors Austow8, RysterEDS, and Lavaking46 developed this project over 10 years, inspired by the classic map Islands of Junara.
Characteristics:
Minecraft version: 1.21.11 (map version V1.0.1)
Genre: survival / CTM / adventure / PVE
Number of players: single-player or multiplayer
Playtime: 10+ hours
Authors: Austow8, RysterEDS, and Lavaking46

Concept and survival
You start the game on a small floating island with the void beneath your feet and a minimal supply of resources. Your task is to build bridges, travel between different islands, explore dungeons, and look for colored blocks to complete the central monument.

Exploration and dungeons
The ROTS map offers deep gameplay thanks to a large amount of diverse content:
Special artifacts. Hidden chests contain items with special passive and active abilities that make survival and combat easier.
Custom monsters. Special enemies with altered stats and behavior spawn on the islands and in dungeons.
Disabled trading. Classic trading with villagers is locked. This makes obtaining emeralds more difficult and forces you to look for other ways to acquire valuable tools and armor.
The map supports both single-player and playing with friends on a server. Note that the project is still being refined (version V1.0.1), so minor bugs may occur.
The Secret of Christmas — the mystery of Santa's base
The Secret of Christmas is a themed holiday puzzle map in the "find the button" genre, created by developer Sn1ghtel. It focuses on finding hidden activation mechanisms in detailed locations.
Characteristics:
Minecraft version: 1.20.1
Genre: find the button / adventure
Number of players: single-player or co-op
Playtime: 30–60 minutes
Author: Sn1ghtel

Story premise
The story follows a truck driver returning home through the forest on a snowy night. Finding an old book labeled "Guidebook" on the side of the road and putting it in the cab, the driver suddenly falls into a portal. The book transports him to Santa Claus's secret base in the snowy mountains. The main goal is to explore the gift factory and unravel the base's mysteries.

Game mechanics
The map is built on linear room progression:
Finding hidden buttons. In each location (parking lot, workshop, sorting facility), you need to find a button that opens the passage further. Buttons are camouflaged among the New Year decorations and interior.
Variety of interiors. Locations feature many small details and custom 3D models of holiday items.
Lack of complex redstone contraptions or combat. Progression is focused solely on attentiveness and exploring rooms.
