Building large-scale farms or complex architectural projects in survival often turns into a chore because you constantly have to switch between worlds or take dozens of screenshots. When the question comes up of how to copy a structure from creative and reproduce it exactly on a server, it is worth downloading the Litematica mod. This blueprint mod displays a hologram of a saved building right in your world, letting you fill it with blocks without mistakes. Technical mods for Minecraft 26.1+ mostly focus on automation, but this tool directly improves and speeds up the process of building structures by hand.
Creating and placing schematics
Litematica uses a visual zone-selection system, but all calculations happen exclusively on the client side. To work with the mod, a special tool is used — by default this is an ordinary stick.
To save your own building to a file:
Hold the stick in your hand and select the outer points of the structure, forming a cube.
Open the main menu, go to the Area Selection section and save the selected zone to a .litematic file. This file will appear in the schematics folder in the game directory.
To load a blueprint you need to open the menu and choose the desired file. The building's hologram will appear at the spot where the player is standing. To place the schematic at exact coordinates, you need to open the Litematica menu, select Schematic Placements, click the Configure button next to the schematic placed in the world, and on the right under Placement Origin set the required X, Y, Z axis coordinates and the rotation angle.
Tools for survival
Besides visualizing the hologram itself, the modification provides functionality for resource control:
Material List: Generates a precise list of all blocks needed to complete the loaded schematic. The interface counts the number of stacks and shows which resources are missing from your inventory.
Schematic Verifier: Scans the placed hologram and compares it with the real blocks in the world. All mismatches (a missing block, the wrong material type, an incorrect direction of an observer or hopper) are highlighted in bright red.
Easy Place: A mode that lets you place blocks with a single hold of the right mouse button while moving. The client automatically picks the required block from the hotbar and places it exactly according to the hologram. It works in single-player or on servers with the Carpet mod allowed.
Hotkeys and controls
All interaction with the mod is built on key combinations that can be flexibly reassigned in the configs:
M — open the main control menu.
M + R — turn the hologram rendering on or off.
M + I — open the material list for the currently active schematic.
Holding Ctrl + the mouse wheel — switch between the stick tool's modes (zone selection, moving the schematic, pasting in creative).
Edge cases and troubleshooting
A game crash while using this tool usually happens due to a lack of RAM. When you try to load a giant schematic (for example, an entire city larger than 500x500 blocks), the rendering overflows the available client memory, causing an OutOfMemoryError. The solution is to increase the allocated RAM in the launcher or to split the building into several separate .litematic files.
If the server uses aggressive anti-cheat plugins (for example, NoCheatPlus or Vulcan), the fast placement of blocks via the Easy Place function is treated as a FastPlace hack. This leads to an instant kick or ban of the player. On such servers, Easy Place needs to be turned off and blocks placed manually.
Compatibility
Mandatory dependency: The MaLiLib library is critically required to initialize the mod. Without it, Minecraft will not be able to launch and will throw a dependency error.
File formats: Litematica partially supports reading the old .schematic format (from the WorldEdit plugins and the Schematica mod), but when transferring schematics from older versions (1.12.2) the orientation of blocks (stairs, fences, chests) may be lost.
Optimization mods: When used together with Sodium, minor rendering artifacts are possible — holographic blocks of water or glass may lose transparency at certain viewing angles.
Conclusion
Litematica is the baseline standard for all technical players and builders who create massive structures. It eliminates the human factor when copying complex redstone mechanisms, where a single incorrectly rotated comparator completely breaks a farm. Transferring buildings from creative to a server becomes a precise and predictable process. The only noticeable limitation is the somewhat overloaded interface, which takes time to master all the key combinations and stick modes. Compared to the classic Schematica, this project consumes significantly fewer computer resources during rendering and does not cause lag even when displaying tens of thousands of blocks. It is the no-alternative mod for everyone who values their time during survival.
Installation
A typical installation takes about 5 minutes. The flow is the same; only the loader and the matching build differ.
