Repurposed Structures (Fabric) — a mod to add new variations and regenerate standard structures in Minecraft
Minecraft version tested and written for: 26.1
Supported version range: 1.16.5 – 26.1
Repurposed Structures - Fabric is a Minecraft mod that adds new variations of vanilla structures to world generation. Instead of creating something entirely new, the author takes existing ones — villages, mineshafts, strongholds, temples, mansions — and makes versions of them for different biomes. In one world, a lot of new buildings appear, each tailored to the wood, stone, and blocks of its area. The mod does not add any new blocks or mobs and works completely server-side, so vanilla clients can connect to a server with the mod without additional installation.
How the mod works and what changes in generation
The mod intervenes at the structure generation stage: when the world creates a chunk, new variants of standard buildings are added to it. They are all built from vanilla blocks, so they look like part of the original game. Most have their own loot tables adapted to the biome.
Starting with version 1.18.2, the main part of the settings has been moved to datapacks. What in older versions was modified through the config file, is now changed through the JSON files of the datapack. There are two parameters left in the config file itself — about them below.

Dungeons, mineshafts, and strongholds
The mod replaces the vanilla dungeon with a thematic variant according to the biome. A separate "deep" version generates below Y=0. Each variant has its own mob composition in the spawner and adapted loot.
Abandoned mineshafts also get biome versions. Most keep the standard cave spider spawner, but some have another mob — for example, a drowned in the oceanic one, a blaze in the nether ones, or an endermite in the end one.

Two strongholds are added separately:
Nether Stronghold — appears further than 2817 blocks from the dimension's center, at lava level and below. Storage rooms contain 4 chests instead of 1.
End Stronghold — appears further than 8000 blocks from the dimension's center, only inside islands.
There are also new ancient cities — oceanic, nether, and ender. Dangerous mobs adapted to the dimension constantly spawn in each. In the nether variant, a Nether portal is active, in the ender one — an End portal.
Outposts, temples, pyramids and other minor structures
All these structures generate in the Overworld, Nether, and End — each adapted to its biome. Some of them have altered behavior.

Finding structures and the /locate command
All mod structures are found with the standard /locate command. The names have the prefix repurposed_structures:, so if you start typing /locate structure repur, the game will prompt available options:
/locate structure repurposed_structures:stronghold_nether
/locate structure repurposed_structures:village_badlands
/locate structure repurposed_structures:jungle_fortress
The command works in the corresponding dimension — the Nether stronghold is searched from the Nether, the ender ones — from the End.
Config and settings via datapacks
The config file repurposed_structures.json is located in the config/ folder:
Parameter | What it does |
| Whether to add items from other mods to the structures' loot. |
| Loot tables in which modded items should not be mixed even if |
Conclusion
Repurposed Structures - Fabric solves the problem of vanilla building repetitiveness. In the standard game, most biomes share one version of a village, mineshaft, or pyramid — the mod expands the list and ties the loot and material to the area. No new mechanics, mobs, or items appear — only generation is expanded. Suitable for long survivals and servers where players often travel — it is in distant locations that new structures are most noticeable.
Installation
A typical installation takes about 5 minutes. The flow is the same; only the loader and the matching build differ.
